Coney Island and Fireworks

We had a family night to Coney Island on Friday. We went to Coney Island Surf & Turf for dinner. Mike got crab legs and said they were good (so we have a place to take Auntie Jenny when she comes to visit....and anyone else that likes crab legs). We got a lobster bisque that was tasty and had lots of lobster...Q even had a little taste and approved. Of course, she approves of everything. I got fish and chips and it was decent...a little dry, but whatever. The batter was good and the fries hit the spot. I ate a ton and got a little tummy ache. Good thing we were so close to the boardwalk to walk off some kcals! Yes, that is Q in a jacket!!!! I don't remember the last time we needed a jacket, but the ocean night breezes can be cool...I'm glad I remembered to grab it on the way out the door!

After our brief walk on the boardwalk (getting crowded with those gathering for the fireworks), we walked around some carnie stations but mostly just down "Surf Ave". Mike saw an "alive snake woman"--yes, you must see it. It's the head of a beautiful woman and the body of an ugly snake. He said he's never seen anything quite like it. Since it is summer and we needed dessert, we got some ice cream. And then it was just about time for the fireworks. Since Q was sleeping, we thought we'd stay for the show. Well, after a few booms, Q decided it was worth opening her eyes.

And this is what she was looking at.

But she didn't really like that for too long, so Daddy picked her up to show that it was okay and there were lots of pretty colors to go with the loud noises!

She was a trooper that night. She was ready for bed before we left for dinner at about 6:30, and she made it out until after 10! In fact, she actually put up a little bit of a fuss to stay up when we got home. She fell asleep about 11/11:30 and was up at 6am! Needless to say, I wasn't ready to be up at 6am, so she played in her crib from 6-9...she was quiet for most of that time so I'm assuming she slept a little bit. But there were lots of happy playing-in-my-crib sounds between 7 & 9 too. :-)

We are planning to head to Central Park today. Wish us luck with the subway system, stroller, and teething baby!! :-)
